What is Asian-Pacific Aquaculture?
Asian Pacific Aquaculture (APA) is an annual event organized by the World Aquaculture Society – Asian Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC). The Asia Pacific Chapter (APC) is a part of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS), an international network committed to excellence in science, technology, and education in the field of aquaculture. This event is typically attended by stakeholders from dozens of countries, with thousands of participants from around the world.
Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2024
Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2024 (APA24) is organized by the Directorate General of Aquaculture, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Indonesian Aquaculture Society (MAI).
APA24 is held in Surabaya from July 3-5, 2024, with the theme “Aquaculture – Driving the Blue Economy.” The event is attended by over 5,000 participants and 75 companies from both domestic and international sectors and was inaugurated by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Ma’ruf Amin. Indonesia’s Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, stated that it is a great honor for Indonesia to host APA for the second time, following its success in 2016.
The event is also attended by representatives from 26 countries spanning five continents, including the United States, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Egypt, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and many other Asian countries. APA is an essential regular event for discussing developments and innovations in the aquaculture industry.

Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2024 (APA24) will host 28 sessions covering various important topics, including freshwater aquaculture, fish farming health management, feed technology, aquaculture engineering, blue economy, food safety, aquatic animal welfare, water quality management, as well as environmental and climate change issues in aquaculture.
These sessions will also discuss the role of women in aquaculture, information technology, policies and regulations, and various other innovations supporting sustainable aquaculture and the growth of the blue economy.
