Toba (24/09) – Regal Springs Indonesia (PT Aqua Farm Nusantara), in collaboration with the Toba Regency Government, handed over 52,500 tilapia fish seeds to 10 fish farming groups (Pokdakan) at the Agricultural UPTD in Landbouw Village, Laguboti District, Toba Regency, on Monday (23/09). The event was attended by Joni Hutajulu, Head of the Toba Regency Agriculture Department, as part of the support for the development of the local fisheries sector.
“We support the Toba Regency Government’s efforts to maintain the balance of fish populations in Lake Toba. Through this fish seed distribution, we hope to increase the productivity and welfare of the local fish farmers, which will have a positive impact on the local economy,” said Arum P. Handayani, Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs at Regal Springs Indonesia.
Joni Hutajulu, Head of the Toba Regency Agriculture Department, appreciated Regal Springs Indonesia’s support in developing aquaculture in Toba Regency.
“The potential of fish farming groups in Toba Regency will continue to be developed to improve the welfare of the community. We hope Pokdakan can actively serve as a driving force in the development of aquaculture in this area, and that this assistance can be utilized optimally to increase production and the income of Pokdakan members,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of Pokdakan’s role as a platform for fish farmers to exchange information, experiences, insights, and technology, as well as to enhance their capacities.
As additional information, Regal Springs Indonesia is strongly committed to environmental sustainability and community welfare. In recent years, the company has been actively conducting restocking activities (releasing fish seeds into public waters) around its operational areas to boost local farmers’ production.
From 2019 to 2022, more than 500,000 tilapia fish seeds have been released into waters in Toba and Samosir Regencies.
