The tilapia fish produced by PT Aqua Farm Nusantara ranked among the top 6 fish export products in Central Java in 2019, totaling 1,535 tons valued at Rp103 billion. The top 6 fish export products included crab meat, surimi, squid, white shrimp, vannamei shrimp, and tilapia. This information was conveyed by Raden Gatot Perdana, Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control, and Fisheries Product Safety (BKIPM) Office in Semarang, during the Grand Export Event of Fisheries Products in Central Java inaugurated by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, on Friday (11/22). During the event, Sammy Hamzah, President Commissioner of PT Aqua Farm Nusantara, stated that the company is continuously seeking ways to improve production efficiency.
“In 2019, we exported 1,600 tons of Naturally Better Tilapia to the United States, Europe, Australia, and Canada, and also sold 3,381 tons domestically,” said Sammy Hamzah. “As a foreign investment company from Switzerland, we appreciate the support and guidance from the Indonesian Government for our business. With a more investment-friendly regulatory regime and the business-friendly environment currently promoted by President Jokowi, we believe that we can grow our business and contribute to the Indonesian government and people’s economy,” added Sammy.
Also attending the event, Juan Carlos, CEO of PT Aqua Farm Nusantara, mentioned that PT Aqua Farm Nusantara has tilapia farming operations in Wadas Lintang, Wonogiri, Kedung Ombo, and Wunut, as well as a processing plant in Semarang, all located in Central Java, with 750 employees.
