Clean Water Challenges and Solutions at the 10th World Water Forum

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, as host of the 10th World Water Forum highlighted the importance of sustainability of water resources as an urgent issue for the world. Global water demand is increasing sharply along with population and industrial growth, while the availability of quality and sustainable water is increasingly difficult due to environmental degradation and climate change. For this reason, efficient and integrated water resource management is needed to achieve shared prosperity.
Jokowi emphasized several important agendas that must be prioritized: water conservation efforts, availability of clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, as well as mitigating natural disasters such as floods and drought. All of these agendas require community participation, support from various stakeholders, as well as dialogue and partnership between countries in a spirit of togetherness for global prosperity. Apart from that, innovations, especially in financing involving the government and private sectors, as well as technological innovations, are urgently needed to meet food and energy needs, as well as commitment from all parties to work together.
