Jakarta (20/02) Regal Springs Indonesia (PT Aqua Farm Nusantara) collaborated with the Directorate General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fisheries Products, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (Ditjen PDSPKP – KKP) to educate the public about the benefits and importance of fish protein through the podcast “Regal Springs Kitchen Talk”.
This program was held as an effort by Regal Springs Indonesia to support government programs in increasing domestic fish consumption, including the KKP Gemarikan program (Movement to socialize eating fish) and the “Free Protein 100gram” campaign and the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program.
This is in line with the Company’s mission to build public awareness so that they enjoy eating fish to fulfill maximum nutrition.
One of the speakers, Dr. Budi Sulistiyo, M.Sc, Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, welcomed this educational synergy.
“The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is currently committed to strengthening the nutrition of future generations by encouraging active participation from various parties and business actors,” explained Budi.
Budi explained that the 100-gram independent protein campaign was based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which stated that people’s protein intake was at 62.3 grams/capita/day (2023). Of that amount, only 9.25 grams or only 14.8 percent came from animal protein, especially fish.
“As a maritime country, we certainly have the advantage of fish which can be the main source of protein for people,” explained Budi.
On this occasion, Budi gave an example of 100 grams of tilapia fish, for example, containing 20 grams of protein which plays a role in producing antibodies. In addition, this content is also needed to increase immunity and build body cells and is able to meet 33% of the protein needs of adults.
“For this reason, through creative educational activities such as this podcast, hopefully fish will increasingly become the main choice of food source for Indonesian families. We also encourage business actors to continue to innovate in presenting products that are easy to process, one of which is fillets,” said Budi.
Then Tri Dharma Saputra, Director of Regal Springs Indonesia, said, “At Regal Springs Indonesia, we are firmly committed to continuing to improve public understanding of the benefits of fish protein intake by encouraging the expansion of health education and collaborating with various parties,” said Tri.
“Adding to what Mr. Budi said, tilapia fish fillets are not only a source of protein but also very rich in vitamin D3, omega-3, and other important nutrients. Of course, to ensure that the nutritional quality is maintained, Regal Springs Indonesia applies an integrated method starting from seeding, cultivation, to processing with good tilapia fish cultivation standards and blue food principles,” added Tri.
In addition to podcasts, the Directorate General of PDSPKP – KKP and Regal Springs Indonesia will also produce a series of practical and easy-to-make tilapia recipe videos. This video is expected to be an inspiration for the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program, households, and MSME actors fostered by KKP.
Regal Springs Indonesia and the Directorate General of PDSPKP – KKP will broadcast these podcasts and recipe videos through their respective digital platforms to reach more people.
Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said, fish is a source of protein that is most easily absorbed by the body so that growth becomes more optimal. According to him, fish has high omega 3, tastes better, is easier to get and is more affordable.
